Combining breathtaking nature with ancient ruins, Phaselis offers visitors a truly unique experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Getting There by Car:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>From Kemer:<\/strong> Phaselis (Faselis) is only 16\u202fkilometres from Kemer, so the drive is quick and straightforward.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>From Antalya:<\/strong> Follow the Kumluca Highway (D\u2011400) to the 57th\u202fkilometre, then turn south. In just a few minutes you\u2019ll arrive at the entrance gate, where you can buy your ticket.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Parking:<\/strong><br>Phaselis has three harbours. Simply park near the harbour where you plan to swim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Public Transport:<\/strong><br>If you don\u2019t have a car, regular minibuses run from Antalya, Kemer and Tekirova to Phaselis. They drop passengers at the ticket booths at the site entrance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Walking Info:<\/strong><br>After you get off the minibus, there is about a 10\u2011minute walk through the forest to reach the beaches. Travel light\u2014carrying heavy bags can be tiring. With luck, you might catch a lift from a car with spare seats, but don\u2019t rely on it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tip:<\/strong><br>Because of the heat and the walk, bring only what you really need\u2014water, a hat and sunscreen are essential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With a little preparation, you can explore this beautiful ancient city with ease. Thanks to its strategic coastal location, it quickly became a coveted trading hub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Under Persian Rule:<\/strong><br>Like most Anatolian cities, Phaselis fell under Persian control about a century later\u2014though not for long.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Delian League &amp; Alexander the Great:<\/strong><br>The city later joined the Delian League, and in 333\u202fBC it was incorporated into Alexander the Great\u2019s rapidly expanding empire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Wealth of Three Harbours &amp; Pirate Threats:<\/strong><br>Its three natural harbours brought great prosperity\u2014and, inevitably, repeated pirate attacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Roman Empire &amp; Lycian League:<\/strong><br>In the 2nd\u202fcentury\u202fAD Phaselis came under Roman rule, soon joining the Lycian League. Several Roman emperors are known to have visited, underscoring its importance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Byzantine Era &amp; Arab Raids:<\/strong><br>During Byzantine times the city became an episcopal centre, but Arab raids dealt heavy blows to its wealth and population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Final Decline:<\/strong><br>With the rise of the Seljuk Turks in Anatolia, Phaselis gradually slipped into obscurity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Across the centuries Phaselis thrived, suffered and evolved under many civilisations. When you drive in, you first reach the South Harbour, then the Central Harbour, and finally the North Harbour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t expect sunbeds or umbrellas on these beaches. Instead, the trees lining the shore provide natural shade and comfort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you plan to spend the day at the North Harbour, check the waves at the South Beach first: when the South is wavy, the North is usually calm like the Central Harbour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"1-kuzey-liman\"><strong>1. You can park close to the shore, so carrying gear is easy. It\u2019s quieter and more peaceful than the other beaches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The crystal\u2011clear sea floor is pebbly, so water shoes can help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The tree shade is a little way back from the beach. If you\u2019re picnicking, bring an umbrella or other sun protection so you can relax comfortably amid this blend of nature and history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"2-merkez-liman\"><strong>2. Central Harbour<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/olimposlu.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Phaselis-Antik-Kenti-Nerede-Nasil-Gidilir-Giris-Ucreti-2024-7.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-28107\" srcset=\"https:\/\/olimposlu.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Phaselis-Antik-Kenti-Nerede-Nasil-Gidilir-Giris-Ucreti-2024-7.jpg 800w, https:\/\/olimposlu.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Phaselis-Antik-Kenti-Nerede-Nasil-Gidilir-Giris-Ucreti-2024-7-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/olimposlu.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Phaselis-Antik-Kenti-Nerede-Nasil-Gidilir-Giris-Ucreti-2024-7-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>My personal favourite is the \u201cCentral Harbour,\u201d whose rim of rounded stones makes it feel like a natural swimming pool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Park near the ancient aqueduct. Spaces here can be sunny, but at least you avoid the parking chaos found elsewhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In summer, the water here is warmer than along much of the Antalya coast, with a mix of small pebbles and sandy patches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Swim through the shallow parts toward the far end and you\u2019ll reach large rocks\u2014climb them with care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trees around the harbour give plenty of shade. I usually spread a blanket beneath them for a picnic. You can also bring folding chairs and a table if you wish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Note that barbecues are forbidden. Bring your own food, collect your rubbish and perhaps enjoy tea or coffee from a flask as you admire the view.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are no toilets or showers at the Central or North Harbours; those are available only at the South Harbour. Remember, you\u2019re swimming amid 9,000\u202fyears of history\u2014no concrete beach clubs here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s a small caf\u00e9 near the aqueduct for snacks and cold drinks. Museum Pass holders get a discount.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"3-guney-liman\"><strong>3. It has a wide sandy shore, gentle waves and a breathtaking panorama.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reaching it is a little different: you must walk 5\u201310\u202fminutes through the ruins from the other harbours. If you drive directly here, be strategic with parking\u2014cars often block one another on busy days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The beach is a mix of fine sand and small pebbles. It\u2019s great for sunbathing, but also the most crowded\u2014especially because boats drop visitors here. For a quieter vibe, choose the Central or North Harbour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The inland part of the South Harbour is perfect for picnics, though you\u2019ll likely share the space in high season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Its big advantage: toilets, showers and changing cabins. Walk past the car park among the trees to find them, but expect queues later in the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll also find a small kiosk for snacks and cold drinks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"phaselis-faselis-antik-kenti-gezilecek-yerler\"><strong>Sights to See in Phaselis (Faselis) Ancient City<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/olimposlu.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Phaselis-Antik-Kenti-Nerede-Nasil-Gidilir-Giris-Ucreti-2024-5.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-28109\" srcset=\"https:\/\/olimposlu.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Phaselis-Antik-Kenti-Nerede-Nasil-Gidilir-Giris-Ucreti-2024-5.jpg 800w, https:\/\/olimposlu.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Phaselis-Antik-Kenti-Nerede-Nasil-Gidilir-Giris-Ucreti-2024-5-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/olimposlu.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Phaselis-Antik-Kenti-Nerede-Nasil-Gidilir-Giris-Ucreti-2024-5-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>After enjoying the beaches, take a stroll from the shoreline into the forested heart of the ruins and trace the footsteps of antiquity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Walk the Harbour Street, once the city\u2019s main artery, which links the Central and South Harbours in a magical journey through time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Along the way, admire the grandeur of the Agora dedicated to Emperor Hadrian. On both sides you\u2019ll see remnants of statues that have weathered the centuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t miss the Temple of Zeus, the theatre, the baths and, at the end of the road, Hadrian\u2019s Gate framing a spectacular view of the South Harbour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Keep an eye out for stretches of the city walls and marvel at the Roman aqueducts that once carried water from northern springs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also explore the seaside necropolis, ancient customs buildings and the temples of Hermes, Athena and Hestia. Staff begin clearing visitors about 30\u202fminutes before closing time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The entrance fee is 10\u20ac &#8211; 17\u20ac. Visitors aged 65\u202fand over and children enter free of charge.<\/strong> Holders of the Museum Pass or Museum Pass\u202f+ can enter without paying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can buy these cards at the ticket booth.
